Julie Nolin

Julie Nolin is a reporter and producer with CTV Vancouver.
Raised in Lethbridge, Julie started her media career as an intern at CTV in 1990. She moved onto print media as a newspaper reporter, editor and photographer – later returning to television news in 1996.

Julie has worked all over the prairies, including CTV Saskatoon in 2000-2002. From 2002-2005, she became the late night anchor, reporter, and producer for Citytv Edmonton. In 2005, she ventured to the West Coast to become a six o’clock host and reporter for Citytv Vancouver. After the newscast was cancelled, Julie became an anchor/reporter for CHEK News in Victoria until 2009.

It was during her time on Vancouver Island that she returned to school, obtaining a Master of Arts degree in Intercultural and International Communication from Royal Roads University. She completed part of her studies in Jinan, China, graduating in 2010. That same year, she became a communications instructor at the British Columbia Institute of Technology; through the support of BCIT, she was able to take her expertise to the World Media Academy in New Delhi, India – volunteering there as a TV trainer and curriculum advisor for four months in 2012. After travelling to Malaysia, and winding her way through West & East Europe to teach intercultural communication and negotiation for business, she realized there’s no place like home.

She has won several journalism awards for her work as a reporter, producer, host and documentary director.

In her spare time, Julie is an avid reader – and loves to cook for her husband and two sons.
